Join us for a screening of a film by a new cinema club and coffee bar coming soon to Lansing, the Créma-torium Café & Cinéclub. The event will start with a relaxed hour from 7PM to 8PM where syphon coffee, tea, and homemade soda will be sold, followed by a showing of a film from October’s theme.

We will be serving Halfwit Coffee, Rishi Tea, and two homemade sodas inspired by Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper.

The month of October’s club theme is The Video Word Made Flesh, an assortment of films about TVs that kill. Get prepared for deadly game shows, aliens and zombies coming out of the tube, newscasters in peril, obsession with fame, videotapes that if seen are deadly, and the passivity of viewing causing brain rot. Many of these films have some heavy social commentary about the effects of TV and video on us, and this is all wrapped up in an essay that relates them to the philosophies of Jean Baudrillard and Marshal Mcluhan.

Join the Cinéclub to see the schedule of suggested films, read the full essay on the theme, and find out what is showing at the in-person screening. I promise you will not die in 7 days if you come to this event (at least not from attending).

The Créma-torium’s goal is to be a third space for every cult film aficionado, midnight movie marauder, and tapehead out there. Come out and get a coffee or a tea and let’s make film culture come alive in Lansing!

This is a free event but still requires you to RSVP at the link below:
