About The Event
Apples in Winter is the story of a mother making an apple pie. The last pie that her son will ever eat as he sits on death row. While she prepares the pie, she struggles with how her son's life could have turned out this way. Too she questions whether her actions led to his circumstance. Apples in Winter has won the NNPN Smith Prize and the Susan Glaspell Award.
Jennifer Fawcett is a playwright and teacher. Her plays have been produced in the US and Canada at Phoenix Theatre (Indianapolis), Urbanite Theatre (Sarasota), Centenary Stage Company (Hackettstown, NJ), Riverside Theatre (Iowa City), the Source Festival (Washington, DC), Hancher Auditorium (University of Iowa), Available Light Theatre (Columbus), Uprising Theatre Company (Minneapolis), Halcyon Theatre (Chicago), the Drilling Company (New York), Summerworks (Toronto), Rhubarb! Theatre Festival (Toronto), and the Blyth Festival (Blyth, ON) among others.
Apples in Winter is directed by Ixion Artistic Director jeff croff. Starring in this one woman show is Lansing Community College theatre faculty Paige Dunckel. This show marks the second collaboration for croff and Dunckel. Paige performed in Ixion's inaugural show and world premiere The Four Disgracers, which was directed by croff. Paige also directed Ixion's first full-length play Top Dog/ Underdog.
