About The Event
8PM show | 7:30 doors
BYOB from Sleepwalker
Back in 2008 as director at (SCENE) Metrospace in East Lansing, Peter Richards held a one-night tribute to the musical city of Manchester, UK. Manchester is a factory town with a rich creative history, in many ways a spiritual cousin of Lansing, Michigan. Performing that night was Double Saginaw Familiarity, Middleman, and Richards' own solo acoustic bass project, Stargrazer.
Many will recognize Manchester as the birthplace of recording artists such as The Smiths, Joy Division, The Hollies, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Thin Lizzy, The Bee Gees and many, many more musicians. The list is truly amazing and these bands populate many of our favorite playlists.
Fast-forward to 2023, we are recapturing the musical magic of that night by invoking Manchester's famous Haçienda Club at The Robin Theatre in REO Town. Expect a mix of cover songs, sing alongs, plus a few original tunes that lend evidence to our enduring love for sister city Manchester.
Performers: Jennifer Toms (A Rueful Noise, Scary Women) and Nicholas Merz (MK Ultra Culkin, The Hat Madder, A Rueful Noise), Loren Pudvay (The Hunky Newcomers, The Plurettes), Peter Richards (Stargrazer) and others!
