Morgan Harris (guitar, voice) and Cameron DeWhitt (banjo, voice) are two leading queer voices in the current old time music scene. Often seen playing together as two thirds of Tall Poppy String Band, they each have projects of their own: Morgan’s recent album Alone Will Tell (her first as an out trans musician) is a reflection on exploring one’s identity through the folk process, while Cameron’s long running podcast Get Up in the Cool engages its guests in conversations (both verbal and musical) about what it means to belong to a musical tradition. For this show they will each present a solo set of tunes and songs highlighting their individual approaches to their instruments, before joining forces in musical dialogue to close out the night.Â
Cameron DeWhitt (they/them) is a clawhammer banjoist and Old Time musician living in Portland, Oregon.…
