Esteemed and Distinguished Michigan State University Professor of Saxophone, Joe Lulloff, joins Pure Winds for an epic program of woodwind chamber music highlighting the saxophone. Featured works include Henri Tomasi’s “Printemps,” a 20th century work exploring lyrical melodies juxtaposed with bird-like woodwind sonorities; “Black Belt, White Cadillac” inspired by Korean martial arts and vintage cars by Daniel McCarthy; and, “Scaramouche” a fun and exciting piano-duo, turned saxophone concerto by Darius Milhaud, in an arrangement for saxophone and wind quintet.
Pure Winds is an award-winning woodwind quintet based in Lansing, Michigan that promotes outside-of-the-concert-hall musical experiences. The group engages audiences of all ages through residencies, masterclasses, and performances.
